Hello folks,
I am pleased to announce the release of The Monstrous Feminine Zine, in collaboration with fellow astrologer Heloïse. This 116 page guidebook leads you through four feminine archetypes through the lens of the chaotic, the dark, the subversive. We explore how the Moon, Venus, Saturn and the Serpent Stars (Algol and Alphard) all embody different facets of the feminine that is vilified by the patriarchy but also holds great power and creativity.
This project began as a quest to expand the definition of the feminine in the astrological tradition. For years, it seemed all discussion of the chaotic feminine ended with black moon lilith, a calculated point. Like the biblical Lilith, this placement is often used to describe the passions, deep desires, and where we find liberation from what represses these impulses.
Though we don’t want to take this placement away from those who find it useful and have built a connection to this archetype, it’s also worth noting that the Black Moon Lilith is a minor point— not as important as the planets and angles, at the very least. On top of that, there are already distinctly feminine planets in the planetary pantheon— usually defined as Venus and the Moon. Why must the monstrous be outsourced to one minor point while the primary feminine planets must stay civilized, obedient, mere objects and extension of the patriarchy?
While in the tradition, the Moon is represented as a maternal nurturer and Venus as the alluring bride, we want to make room for the parts of these planets tradition forgets. What is the Moon was not just the perfect caregiver but also the fierce hunter and rebel against the status quo for the people. What if Venus was more than her passive beauty but also the active crafter of glamours and fierce warrior for justice?
We also expand the feminine in the tradition to include Saturn, a planet usually considered male. In the zine, we make the argument for Saturn as mystical crone, the experienced, iconoclastic woman who navigates the established world on her own terms while also gesturing towards the void.
Being interested in the fixed stars, we also focus our gaze on Algol and Alphard, two snake stars with a distinctly feminine bent. Algol is the head of Medusa, the vilified, wounded woman who also holds the key to protection and creativity. Alphard, as the heart of the serpent, is the power of the earth personified, holding great passions in her heart if she allows herself to unleash it.
In addition to essays on each of these archetypes, we also want to help people relate to these archetypes themselves. We provide lists of qualities associated with each monstrous feminine archetype to help you identify which one best embodies you. Additionally, we provide a list of ritual and remediative practices to help you better connect with the monstrous feminine in your own life, with an appendix to help you build you own ritual practice.

This project has been a true labor of love looking to bring more of what we want to see in the astrological sphere which means rewilding, complicating, expanding the feminine. And know that this book is not just confined to women: we all have a wild, receptive, mysterious side that would find connection and sympathy with the archetypes discussed in this book. Anyone who dares not identify with the patriarchal power structures is considered chaotic, Othered, by our world and has a place in this zine.
You can learn more about the zine on my page and purchase it at Heloïse’s website.
