In the meantime, I wanted to help y’all begin to learn and connect to the stars yourself.

I have spent the last year immersed in my book on the fixed stars, the true labor being developing gnostic and ritual relationships with the fifteen Behenian Stars. Though I’ve been visioning with the stars for years, the clear intention of my book necessitated a depth and breadth of ritual work, which, I’ll admit, took a while for me to trust. Though I’ve spent decades in school learning the virtues of sedulous research and intellectual synthesis, I doubted the usefulness and veracity of these visions in spite of myself. All of which is to say: we all have to unlearn our materialist biases, even the most “woo” of us, to begin communing with the stars.

I aim to help you begin a relationship with the fixed stars yourself. It is for anyone of any astrological skill level or spiritual fluidity to begin to see and experience the impact of the stars in your life.

How to Contact the Fixed Stars

This article aims to help you access the magic already present and develop wise, intimate relationships with the stars yourself.

My relationship to the stars is not theoretical. It is not solely found in pre-existing texts and contemporary summaries. Those pieces of information are inert until I marry them to my direct experience of the stars.

It is through direct contact and intimate communication with the fixed stars, like any other tree, rock, house spirit, celestial body, that we understand their vibe, their specific magical use, the root of their multi-faceted meaning.

Through reaching out to the stars ourselves, we are able to see how they show up in our everyday life. More so, we can see the nuances to each of the stars and know which one will help us with our specific needs and desires.

There are countless stars that work for protection. But what sort of protection do you call on Deneb Algedi for versus Procyon? When you want success are you looking for Sirius’s version or Regulus? Direct ritual gnosis is what teaches me these nuances, brings the stars alive.

Direct ritual contact is also what allows you to develop relationships and reap the spiritual benefits of working with the stars. I’ve seen continued ritual relationship with the fixed stars help with visibility, protection from slander, increased wealth, startling insight, an influx of love. The ways of the stars are mysterious, however, and should not be reduced to the purchasing of a talisman, however helpful they may be.

Choosing a Star (or letting it choose you)

Stars catch our eyes in mysterious ways. The first ones I worked with came to me when I went out on a clear night, my sight drifting towards Acubens or Capella again and again. If you know nothing about the stars, I recommend beginning this way. Nothing beats witnessing them in person.

Otherwise, I recommend going for a star that is prominent in your own natal chart. The 15 Behenian stars are particularly loud, so if you have any significant placement within 2º of these stars, then that’s a good sign to say hi: they’re waiting for you.

I also recommend following your gut. Is there a certain star that keeps showing up for you? Certain energies you want to invite in? If you want to learn more about specific stars, look to Constellation of Words or historical info and Astrology King for the list of all fixed star degrees.

This is the first step to relating to the stars: recognizing that they’re already present.
